4-H & FFA Breeding Livestock

ENTRY INFORMATION

Entry Deadline: August 29, 2024
Entry Charge: $8 per head
Showmanship: $5 per exhibitor

1. LATE ENTRIES may be accepted if space permits. If accepted, late entries will be charged a double entry charge. Late entries will not be accepted after September 4th.
2. Exhibitors will receive six (6) gate admission day passes as part of their entry. Exhibitors with more than six (6) breeding animals may request up to (2) additional day passes for show day help. Exhibitors may purchase additional gate admission tickets at a discount during online registration or at the livestock office during the show.
3. Exhibitors who also enter animals in the open show must do so in the same exhibitors name as their Jr Livestock entry.

GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS

Every effort has been made to insure the accuracy of the information on this website. However, exhibitors are cautioned that the current rules and regulations of the Utah State Fair Corporation, as interpreted by Fair Administration and the Board, take precedence over this listing due to the possibility of typographical error or inadvertent omission.

In the event of conflict between the general rules and the special rules governing the various departments, the special rules will take precedence.

The Board reserves the final and absolute right to interpret these rules and regulations and settle and determine all matters, questions and differences in regard thereto, or otherwise arising out of connected with or incident to the Fair.

The Board reserves the right to amend or add to these rules, as it, in its judgment, may deem advisable.

Exhibitors are required to read and abide by the Jr Livestock General Rules & Livestock General Rules.

JUDGING

1. Judges will place all animals numerically as well as by the Danish system (Blue, Red or White) according to type, quality and condition.
2. Premiums will be paid only on exhibits deemed worthy by the judge.
3. Judges decisions will be final.

PREMIUMS

1. Exhibitors will not be allowed more than two ribbons and/or two monies in any one lot (regardless of the number or entries). Clerks will be careful to see that exhibitors receive their proper ribbon and money.
2. All money awarded for group or chapter exhibits becomes the property of the group.
3. Exhibitors leaving early without prior approval from the supervisor will forfeit prize money.
4. All rules & regulations must be complied with or premiums may be withheld.

HEALTH REGULATIONS

1. A health certificate is required on all livestock with the exception of market animals, since they are inspected upon arrival. Please read the Health Regulations and Brand Inspection requirements under the Livestock General Rules as it pertains to breeding livestock.

Special Rules

*Exhibitors are required to read and abide by the Jr Livestock General Rules and Livestock General Rules.

This show is open to all purebred and recorded grades registered or recorded in the American Goat Society, Canadian Goat Society and the American Dairy Goat Association that are bona fide 4-H or FFA projects. Utah 4-H & FFA members who own and/or help care for dairy goats throughout the year may be eligible to enter. Youth who help care for goat for shorter periods of time, which are owned by someone else, are not eligible to participate in the Utah State Fair 4-H & FFA Dairy Goat Show. Record books may be checked.

Eligibility:
1. Exhibitors may exhibit animals that are not registered in their name, but the animals must be their project animals with record books kept accordingly.
2. All registration papers must be checked by the show secretary upon your arrival. If this is not done, those animals whose papers have not been checked will be considered scratched and will not be allowed to show. Checking in of papers is the responsibility of the exhibitor. Any changes must be done at check-in, not on the day of the show!

Miscellaneous:
1. Any doe that has ever freshened or is being milked regularly shall compete in the Sr Doe Division. This includes dry and precocious milkers.
2. Any doe 24 months of age or over that has freshened shall not be shown.
3. Only Recorded Grade, Natives on Performance, Native on Appearance, Experimentals and Grade Experimentals shall be shown in the class called Recorded Grades.
4. Because of space limitations, only animals that are entered in this show will be housed in the barn.
5. All animals will be inspected before unloading. Goats with abscesses or other communicable disease will not be allowed on the grounds.
6. Pre-show milkout will be handled per ADGA rules. These and other rules under Open Show, also apply to this show.
7. Please write tattoos under the “Breed” heading on the entry form. Write in the breed initials under the “Class” heading on the entry form.
8. The Junior and Senior Shows are separately sanctioned.
9. The show order is subject to change to insure the show runs smoothly and efficiently.

Special Rules

1. Each exhibitor must show his or her own project animal
2. The Judge shall require the exhibitors to switch animals during judging
3. ADGA Showmanship Award Certificate shall be made at any official show or at any show judged by an official ADGA judge, even if the show itself is not official.
4. You will be judged on how you appear, answer questions put forth by the judge, and how well you control your animal.
5. 4-H & FFA will show together.
