Title: Event & Grounds Support Crew

Class: full time & seasonal positions available

Pay Range: $12.00 – $15.00 dollars per hour

Reports to: Event Service Supervisor


A. Purpose:

To assist in the set-up and clean-up of events as well as provide assistance to renters during events. Perform routine maintenance on the facility

B. General Working Conditions:

  • Work will take place both indoors and outdoors.
  • Continuous walking, some lifting (minimum of 50 pounds), pushing, and pulling carts
  • Use of basic hand tools

C. Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid Government issued I.D. and Social Security Card
  • Must be customer service oriented.
  • Must be dependable and have good personal hygiene.
  • Ability to bend, lift (minimum of 50 pounds), walk, stand, and climb stairs.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as well as various shifts.

D. Duties:

  • To include but not limited to:
  • Push, pull, lift, and climb various types of equipment
  • Handle folding chairs, stacking chairs, tables of various shapes and sizes, drapery and skirting
  • Operate blower and street vacuums
  • Drive tractors and learn to use arena drag
  • Required to assist with set-up and tear down for events to include but not limited to:
  • Tables and Chairs
  • Stages
  • Sound equipment
  • Livestock equipment
  • Stanchions and signs
  • Tents
  • Decorations
  • Assist with trash collection and recycling
  • Other duties as assigned

Facilities Operations Supervisor

Job Description

The Facilities Supervisor is under direct supervision of the Director of Facilities and performs a wide variety of tasks associated with maintaining the quality of the Fairparks buildings, grounds, and equipment. This position encompasses the Annual Utah State Fair as well as all Interim Events


Responsibilities

Staff Supervision

· On a weekly, monthly, and annual basis, schedule and assign duties to Fairpark maintenance and event staff based on the priorities and the needs of the facility and planned events. Manage staff size based of current and anticipated needs to include full time Facilities staff and as needed part-time staff.

· Determine staffing requirements, and interview, hire, and train new employees.

Maintenance

· This supervisor is responsible for preventative maintenance and up-keep of Buildings and grounds including landscaping, building repair, restrooms, and equipment.

· Develop and maintain repair and maintenance schedules for all Fairpark owned equipment and vehicles as well as all leased and rented equipment and vehicles.

· Make recommendations regarding new construction, major repairs, and special projects, and submit written documentation to support ideas, costs, and contractors under consideration, to the Director of Facilities.

· Assist the Director of Facilities in the development and management of the facilities department Budget to include the recommendation of purchases and the creation of the annual budget.

· Manage the purchasing functions related to facility maintenance and rental equipment.

· Manage contract service providers to ensure work and/or product is meeting Fairpark standards.

Event Services

· Supervisor the set up and tear down of conventions, meetings and banquets in the buildings and grounds

· Maintain positive relationship with clients to ensure client satisfaction.

· Attend pre-event meetings on upcoming functions.

· Oversees inventories on equipment and supplies ensuring that the facility as the proper supplies on hand.

· Work closely with event manager ensuring customer satisfaction

· Supervise facility A/V program

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

C. Minimum Requirements:

1. Must have a valid Driver License.

2. Must have a minimum of (2) years supervisory experience in a public facility, arena, campus,

manufacturing facility, apartment complex, or concert venue.

5. Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and shifts.

6. Must be able to stand and walk for long period without rest.

7. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pound on a regular basis.

Knowledge of:

Basic Carpentry

Basic Electrical

Basic Plumbing

Painting

Carpet Care

Hard Surface Care

General housekeeping in a commercial setting

Knowledge and ability to use Excel a plus

Ability to:

Supervise large groups of people

Organize and complete multiple tasks

Follow oral and written directions.

Operate required equipment.

Perform heavy lifting and physical labor.

Use a variety of hand and power tools.

Work from ladders and scaffolding.

Work out-of-doors.

Deal with conflict in a professional manner.
