Getting’ Jiggy Jell-O contest

Location: Demonstration Kitchen in the Zion Building

Entries Accepted: 7:00 pm
Entries Judged: 7:30 pm

  • 1st Place: $150
  • 2nd Place: $100
  • 3rd Place: $50

Official Rules

  • All recipes must include Jell-O or gelatin in their preparation. Dishes can be any type of entry: sweet, savory, dessert, snack, etc. The parameters are purposefully open.
  • Competitors must bring their prepared original Jell-O dish to the Zion Building at 7:00 p.m.
  • All preparation is to be done at home. Only touch-ups for judging will be done at the Fairpark.
  • Exhibitors must comply with safe food handling guidelines.
  • Submit two (2) copies of your recipe, printed or typed on 8 1/2" x 11" white paper; one with recipe only and one with your recipe, name, address and phone numbers. Be specific with amount of servings, measurements, directions and sizes of cans and packages.
  • Contest is open to any resident, except professional cooks, chefs, food handlers, or culinary instructors.
  • All recipes and entries become the property of the Utah State Fair, who reserve the right to edit, adapt, copyright, publish, or advertise the recipes and the names of the contestants without compensation.
  • Employees of the Utah State Fair, its affiliates, subsidiaries and families are not eligible.
  • Only one winning entry per household or address.
  • Taxes are the responsibility of the winner.
  • Judging will be based on:
    • Appearance 50%
    • Originality 40%
    • Taste Appeal 10%
  • With entry submission, you accept all Contest rules and agree to be bound by the judges' decisions, which will be final.
  • A W9 will be required from any winning contestant.
