Salsa Contest

Location: Demonstration Kitchen in the Zion Building

• 1st Place: $250
• 2nd Place: $150
• 3rd Place: $100

• Judging will be based on:
  • Originality 20%
  • Taste Appeal 70%
  • Appearance/Presentation 10%
• Entries are limited to the first ten (10) registered contestants.
• Salsas can be any type of entry or recipe; however, they will be judged in a mild and hot category.
• Competitors must bring their original prepared original salsa to the Zion Building at 7:00 pm.
• All preparation is to be done at home.
• Exhibitors must comply with safe food handling guidelines, and should obtain a food handlers permit.
• Submit two (2) copies of your recipe, printed or typed on 8 1/2'x 11' white paper; one with recipe only and one with your recipe, name, address and phone numbers. Be specific with amount of servings, measurements, directions, and sizes of cans and packages.
• Contestants are responsible for bringing the following;
  • Any additional ingredients that you believe will give you the winning dish
  • All utensils and serving dish/plate
  • Tortilla chips will be provided by the Utah State Fair.
• Contest is open to any resident, except professional cooks, chefs, food handlers, or culinary instructors.
• All recipes and entries become the property of the Utah State Fair, who reserve the right to edit, adapt, copyright, publish, or advertise the recipes and the names of the contestants without compensation.
• Employees of the Utah State Fair, its affiliates, subsidiaries, and families are not eligible.
• Only one winning entry per household or address.
• Taxes are the responsibility of the winner.
• With entry submission, you accept all Contest rules and agree to be bound by the judges' decisions, which will be final.
• A W9 will be required from any winning contestant.
