RM – Registered Meat: animals must be registered with their respective breed association
RW – Registered Wool: animals must be registered with their respective breed association
CM – Commercial Meat: animals may not be shown in any other class (i.e. Market Show)

All registered breeds will show together in their respective class. If there are 16 head or more of the same breed in the registered classes, provided by 2 or more exhibitors not from the same farm or family, a specific breed show will be held.
*Requests to split the show need to be made to the Livestock Office and Jr Sheep Supervisor 24 hours before the start of the show.*

4-H & FFA Breeding Sheep: All breeds show together. Exhibitors will be judged on compliance to dress code as well as ability to show the animal. Exhibitors must have an animal entered in the 4-H & FFA Breeding Sheep Department and must show their own animal to be eligible to participate in showmanship.

4-H & FFA Market Lambs: Exhibitors must have an animal entered in the 4-H & FFA Market Lamb Department and must show their entered animal to participate in showmanship. Exhibitors will be judged on compliance with dress code as well as ability to show the animal.

Rules:
1. Exhibitor must have owned animal 60 days prior to Sept 11.
2. Exhibitors must show and sell their own animal(s)
3. Minimum weight for Market Lambs = 110lbs
4. Lambs will be divided into uniform lots by weight
5. There may be no evidence of breaking of skin or eruption of two permanent front teeth. Milk teeth must be in place.
6. Lambs will be shown slick shorn. They shall have no more than ¼” wool.
7. Lambs must be uncovered at weigh-in
8. Any lamb identified by the dhow vet as showing signs of fungus must be removed from the Fairpark immediately. The decision of the show vet, barn supervisor, or show committee member will be final.

 

Jr Livestock Auction: Exhibitors must submit properly completed Declaration Form to the Livestock Office no later than 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13, declaring their intent for each animal they showed. Champion and Reserve Champion must sell. Each exhibitor will be limited to selling one animal only in the sale. Animals not eligible for the sale will be the responsibility of the exhibitor.

 

Special Awards

1. FFA Best Chapter Exhibit of Sheep – to be determined on a money point basis – Trophy given at State Convention
2. One Barn Prize of $30 will be awarded
